You can choose among the Live Bookmark, web services such as Bloglines and NewsGator Online, and RSS reader extensions(Sage, Habari Xenu) for the default RSS subscription system. - It detects RSS feeds which are within anchor tags(<a>) instead of link tags. (But it is not perfect: it cannot recognize those which are located in frames or have an unusual file name.) - You can add the first RSS feed directly without selecting on the popup menu.

Here's another Mozilla/Firefox tip: if you copy a URL wrapped over multiple lines from somewhere and try to paste it into the address bar, you will end up only with the first line of it. To fix it, go to about:config and change editor.singleLine.pasteNewlines setting to 3 or add: user_pref("editor.singleLine.pasteNewlines", 3); to your user.js file. Now all the line breaks will be removed upon pasting.

There has been a lot of discussion about backing up Firefox extensions, preferences, bookmarks etc. A promising tool, MozBackup, was unfortunately discontinued. On top of all that, yesterday, after my main HDD fainted (power cable got disconnected), my firefox profile got corrupt. I had no chance but to write a tool to backup/restore my profile.

Bookmark Tags is a Firefox extension that allows you to easily organize your bookmarks. Instead of deciding on the one, appropriate folder to place a bookmark in, you assign it any number of “tags,” or categories, and let Bookmark Tags organize your bookmarks for you. And with the tag browser sidebar and window, instead of hunting for bookmarks through hierarchical folders and subfolders, you can browse with tags, using your categories like a sieve to filter out unwanted bookmarks.
