The Dojo toolkit lets Web application developers create Rich Internet Applications by offering a wide variety of features that save development time and effort. From DOM helpers and Ajax to a full-blown widget library and object-orientation features, Dojo includes virtually everything you need to build large-scale Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (Ajax)-powered Web applications. If the functions you are looking for are not included in Dojo itself, it's highly likely that you can find it in DojoX, a repository of extensions and experimental features that are not included in the Base or Core modules of the toolkit. In Part 3 of this three-part series on developing rich web-based applications using the Dojo toolkit, learn about the Dijit rich user interface.

Ever since I discovered that most RF electronics have an RSSI (relative signal strength) pin on them I have been finding different ways to use it to my advantage. In this case I can use them to make a diversity system for a fraction of the cost of a conventional diversity controller. Sure this requires a little more work than simply buying a diversity controller, but my controller uses less power and also allows me to power my entire base station from a single battery. Even my video glasses and recorder can be powered straight from this controller! I even put a voltage monitor on it. Now more worrying about charging multiple batteries and worrying about any one going dead.

This article outlines the Apache Wink 1.0 framework architecture and explains the design, implementation, and deployment of a new sample Apache Wink RESTful service. This article also helps you understand the basics of the REST paradigm, going on to explain the details of the new JAX-RS 1.0 standard, which helps Java developers implement RESTful Web services using annotations.

Apache Wink is an Apache incubator project that enables the creation and consumption of REST Web services. With REST Web services, the interaction between clients and services is constrained to a set of predefined operations, and the complexity of the client-server interactions is limited to the resource representations exchanged between the client and services. This approach allows you to build interoperable, scalable, and reliable REST-based distributed hypermedia systems.
