- Moralized Bible for Saint Louis
The sumptuous Bible made for Louis IX of France, who was canonized, has been known for centuries as "Biblia rica" (”rich Bible”) for its luxurious decoration. It was transferred to Toledo during the lifetime of the King (1226–1270) where for unknown reasons eight folios were taken out in the 16th century and rebound separately in leather. They have been in the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York City since 1906. The faithful facsimile reproduction of these eight folios serves not only to conserve and protect a unique original, but also provides scholars and bibliophile amateurs access to this volume, especially those who are unable to see it in person in NYC.

- Oxford Apocalypse Bible
This Bible ranks among the most significant English manuscripts of the 13th century. Simply on the basis of the number of its miniatures, 97 in total, it achieves a high position among all other illuminated works of this period. The fine decoration and composition of the manuscript bespeak the strong personality and individuality of the artist, and the use of landscape as a new element of miniature design lends the illustrations a fascinating and strange liveliness. The 97 miniatures accompany the Latin text of the Revelation of Saint John, the mysterious last book of the New Testament. The glorious framed miniatures are more than just mere additions to the text, indeed they are of central importance. A turbulent history: The English king Edward I and his s

- Codex Gigas
The Codex Gigas or the Devil’s Bible is a medieval manuscript at the National Library in Stockholm that is famous for two features. First, it is reputed to be the biggest surviving European manuscript. Secondly, it contains a large, full page portrait of the Devil. This site contains a digitised version of every page of the manuscript as well as commentaries on its history, texts, script, initials and decoration. The manuscript was made in Bohemia (now part of the modern Czech Republic) between about 1200 and 1230. It is remarkable that virtually all of the manuscript, script, initials and decoration, appears to have been the work of one person who probably worked in a Benedictine monas

This triumph of late medieval manuscript art was commissioned in 1355 by Tsar Ivan Alexander, the ruler of Bulgaria who presided over a period of a spiritual and artistic revival. - Showcases :: Luttrell Psalter
The manuscript is named by modern scholars after its original patron. The largest picture in the manuscript depicts a knight on horseback attended by two women, immediately below the words ‘Lord Geoffrey Luttrell had me made’ in Latin (‘Dominus Galfridus Louterell me fieri fecit’). The two women in the picture can be identified by their coats of arms as Geoffrey Luttrell’s wife, Agnes de Sutton, who hands him his helm and lance, and his daughter-in-law, Beatrice le Scrope, who carries his shield. Geoffrey Luttrell was lord of the manor at Irnham, between Grantham and Spalding in Lincolnshire, but he owned estates across England, thanks to his great-great-grandfather, also called Geoffrey. His ancestor’s loyal support and service to King John ha
Commissioned by a wealthy landowner in the first half of the 14th century, the Luttrell Psalter is one of England's most famous psalters. The vitality of its decoration is unsurpassed by other manuscripts of its day.
